Join us this Lent for an evening of fellowship, reflection, and grace-filled renewal as we gather under our 2026 Lenten theme: “Seven Words: Simple, Powerful, Renewing Words, In Grace Alone!”

Each Wednesday through March 25, 2026, we will begin with a Soup Supper at 6:30 p.m., sharing a simple meal and time together until 7:15 p.m. Following dinner, we will move into the Sanctuary for a brief devotional service from 7:15 to 7:30 p.m.

Our midweek services will include:

  • A dramatic reading centered on one of the Seven Words

  • A personal reflection shared by a member of our congregation

  • Prayer and communal worship as we journey toward the cross and the empty tomb

Midweek, Wednesday, March 4 – “…With Me In Paradise!” – 7 p.m.

Drama: Criminals On The Cross
Personal Reflection:

In this second word from the cross, Jesus speaks hope into a moment of deep despair. To a condemned criminal with nothing left to offer, Christ gives a promise that cannot be taken away: “Today you will be with me in paradise.” Grace is not earned. It is given. Even at the very end, even when all seems lost, Jesus draws near.

If you would like to help provide soup, sides, or other items for our meals, sign-up sheets are available in the Narthex. You may also email Pastor Jamie at jamie.thompson@lordoflifemn.org if you would like to contribute.

All are welcome. Come be nourished in body and soul as we gather in grace, community, and renewal this Lenten season.

Sunday, March 8, 2026 – The Third Sunday In Lent

Theme for the Day: “A Behold, To Behold!”
Season Theme: Seven Simple, Powerful Words Of God’s Grace In Jesus Christ
Readings: Exodus 17:1-7; Romans 5:1-11; John 4:5-42

To behold is to take notice, to look closely, to truly see.

On this Third Sunday in Lent, we hear again the powerful word from the cross: “Woman, behold your son … behold your mother.” In that sacred moment, even in suffering, Jesus invites us to see one another in a new way, held together in grace.

We also remember the woman at the well in John’s Gospel. Jesus beholds her, not as the world sees her, but as one known, valued, and loved. In that encounter, she beholds Him as well, recognizing the One who offers living water that never runs dry.

As we journey through Lent, may we take a deep look at our own hearts. May we behold the Christ who sees us fully and loves us completely. May we behold the living water that sustains us, the grace that justifies us, and the Savior who holds us for all eternity.

Worship Highlights:

  • Scripture: Exodus 17:1-7; Romans 5:1-11; John 4:5-42

  • Message: “A Behold, To Behold!”

Theme for the Day: Grace In Every Why
Season Theme: Seven Simple, Powerful Words Of God’s Grace In Jesus Christ
Readings: 1 Samuel 16:1-13; Ephesians 5:8-14; John 9:1-41

Why? It is one of the most honest and heartfelt questions we ask.

As we hear again the story of the man born blind in John 9, it is natural to wonder why some healings happen and others do not. Why does suffering linger? Why do prayers sometimes feel unanswered? Why do miracles appear in some moments and not in others?

In this Lenten season, we are reminded that even Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Yet the cross does not end in abandonment. It reveals grace. It reveals love. It reveals a God who does not turn away.

Through the healing of the blind man, we see more than restored sight. We see hearts opened. We see faith awakened. We see grace at work in ways beyond our understanding. In every question, in every longing, in every why, God meets us not with silence, but with presence and promise.

Lunch will be provided, so come prepared for thoughtful discussion and nourishing food. Additionally, students will be introduced to their final confirmation project during this class. This project will involve selecting topics to discuss in their final paper—a meaningful opportunity to articulate their beliefs and experiences.

Sunday, March 22, 2026 – The Fifth Sunday In Lent

Theme for the Day: A Thirst Quenched
Season Theme: Seven Simple, Powerful Words Of God’s Grace In Jesus Christ
Readings: Ezekiel 37:1-14; Romans 8:6-11; John 11:1-45

This Sunday we continue our Lenten journey reflecting on one of the simplest and most profound words spoken by Jesus from the cross: “I thirst.”

In John 11, we revisit the powerful story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead and standing beside Mary and Martha in their grief. In Ezekiel, dry bones are given breath and life again. In Romans, we are reminded that the Spirit brings life and peace.

Together, these readings reveal a Savior who not only knows our thirst, but who thirsts for us. Jesus longs to quench our deepest needs for life, freedom, hope, purpose, relationship, faith, compassion, and salvation. Where we feel dry or weary, Christ brings living water. Where we feel empty, Christ brings resurrection life.

We also celebrate a special and joyful moment as Blake is baptized during worship with the Erin Johnson family. In the waters of baptism, God meets our thirst with grace, welcoming, claiming, and renewing life in Christ.

Personal Reflection:

“I thirst.” From the cross, Jesus speaks words of deep human need. The One who offered living water now names his own longing. Sunday, March 29, 2026 – Palm Sunday, The Passion Of Our Lord

Theme for the Day: It Is Finished, It Is Now Begun
Season Theme: Seven Simple, Powerful Words Of God’s Grace In Jesus Christ
Readings: Philippians 2:5-11; Matthew 21:1-11; Matthew 27:11-54; John 19:30

Palm Sunday begins with shouts of “Hosanna” as Jesus enters Jerusalem in humility and peace. Yet the cries of praise soon give way to the solemn events of His passion, suffering, and crucifixion.

On this holy day, we walk the full journey from triumph to the cross. We hear again the words from John’s Gospel, “It is finished,” and we recognize that in Christ’s surrender, something eternal is accomplished. Sin is overcome. Death is defeated. Grace is poured out in full.

And yet, what is finished on the cross is also the beginning of something new. In the humility described in Philippians, in the obedience of Christ, in the love that holds fast even unto death, we see the heart of God revealed. A passionate heart that does not turn away. A merciful heart that remains fixed on us.

As Holy Week begins, we are invited to return to the Lord with all our heart. In the One who gave everything, we are blessed and reassured. What was finished in love now begins anew in grace.

Worship Highlights:

  • Procession of Palms: Children can begin lining up at 9:25 for the Palm Procession as part of worship.

  • Scripture: Philippians 2:5-11; Matthew 21:1-11; Matthew 27:11-54; John 19:30

On Maundy Thursday, we gather to remember the night Jesus shared the Last Supper with His disciples, washed their feet, and gave a new commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Season Theme: Seven Simple, Powerful Words Of God’s Grace In Jesus Christ
Readings: Acts 10:34-43; Matthew 28:1-10

Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia.

On Easter morning, we gather in joy and celebration as we proclaim the good news of the resurrection. The tomb is empty. Death is defeated. The promise is fulfilled.

In Matthew’s Gospel, the women are met with astonishing words: “He is not here; for he has been raised.” Fear turns to wonder. Grief turns to joy. Mary is greeted and called by name. The disciples believe. New life begins.

In Acts, we hear the bold proclamation that Jesus Christ is Lord of all, raised on the third day, bringing forgiveness and salvation to all who believe.

As we return to the Lord with all our heart, we celebrate the One who is gracious and merciful. The Risen Christ raises us up each and every day with an Easter heart, alive in hope, alive in grace, alive in love.

Sunday, March 1, 2026 – The Second Sunday In Lent
Theme for the Day: “… You Are With Me In Paradise!”
Season Theme: Seven Simple, Powerful Words Of God’s Grace In Jesus Christ
Readings: Genesis 12:1-4a; Romans 4:1-5; John 3:1-17

What are you searching for? Peace? Assurance? A place to belong? A glimpse of paradise?

Nicodemus comes to Jesus at night, searching for understanding. Abram is called to trust a promise he cannot yet see. And from the cross, a criminal cries out, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus responds with words that echo through time: “Today you will be with me in paradise.”

In this Lenten season, we are reminded that paradise is not something we build or earn. Paradise is the promise of Christ’s presence. Paradise is grace given freely. Paradise is the love of God made known in these words: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.”

Search no further. In Christ, forgiveness is real. Hope is present. Paradise begins here, in the grace of Jesus Christ.

Worship Highlights:

  • Scripture: Genesis 12:1-4a; Romans 4:1-5; John 3:1-17

Sunday, February 22, 2026 – The First Sunday in Lent

Theme for the Day: Father, Forgive Them
Lenten Theme: Seven Simple, Powerful Words of God’s Grace in Jesus Christ
Readings: Genesis 2:15–17; 3:1–7; Romans 5:12–19; Matthew 4:1–11

As we enter the first Sunday in Lent, we are drawn into the wilderness with Jesus. Led by the Spirit and tempted by Satan, Christ faces what we know so well: the pull to rely on ourselves, to hunger for more than daily bread, to test God rather than trust God, to worship something other than the Lord alone.

And yet, even in the face of temptation and human failure, the heart of Christ speaks grace. “Father, forgive them.” These words are not reserved only for Good Friday. They echo into our wilderness moments today. They meet us in our striving, our missteps, our divided hearts.

This Lenten season, as we reflect on Seven Simple, Powerful Words of God’s Grace in Jesus Christ, we begin here: forgiveness. In Adam we see our wandering. In Christ we see our rescue. In Christ we receive mercy that restores, renews, and reorients our hearts toward God.

Worship Highlights:

  • Scripture: Genesis 2:15–17; 3:1–7; Romans 5:12–19; Matthew 4:1–11

Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026 – 7:00 p.m.

Theme for the Day: Seven Simple, Powerful Words
Lenten Season Theme Begins: Seven Simple, Powerful Words of God’s Grace in Jesus Christ
Readings: Matthew 6:21

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season, a time to pause, reflect, and return to the Lord with all our heart. In Matthew 6:21, Jesus speaks words that reach straight to the center of our lives: “For where your treasure is, your heart will be also.”

Due to rapidly deteriorating weather conditions and unsafe travel, our Ash Wednesday worship service has been cancelled this evening. The safety of our congregation, worship leaders, and staff remains our priority.

Although we are not gathering for full worship, Pastor will remain at church until approximately 7:00 p.m. to offer the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion to anyone who feels safe stopping by. Please use your best judgment and prioritize your safety.

Our 2026 Lenten theme, “Seven Words: Simple, Powerful, Renewing Words, In Grace Alone!”, invites us to focus on the words Christ speaks from the cross. These words are not meant only for Good Friday. They are words that bless and shape us throughout Lent and throughout our lives. They call us to repentance, trust, mercy, forgiveness, hope, and love.

Even when we cannot gather in person, Lent still begins. We trust anew the One who is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The One who treasures us with all his heart, in grace alone.

We invite you to worship from home by viewing last year’s Ash Wednesday service on our Lord of Life LIVE page and to begin this holy season in prayer and reflection wherever you are.Join Us:

Sunday, February 15, 2026 – The Transfiguration of Our Lord

Theme for the Day: A New Transformation Is Only the Beginning
Epiphany Season Theme: Celebrating Only the Beginning in the Light and Grace of Jesus Christ
Readings: Matthew 17:1–9

On this Transfiguration Sunday, we gather at the mountaintop to witness a moment of profound revelation. In Matthew 17:1–9, Jesus is transfigured before the disciples, his glory made visible as light breaks through and God’s voice once again declares, “This is my Son, the Beloved.”

This transformation is not meant to remain on the mountain. It is only the beginning. What the disciples glimpse in that radiant moment points forward to everything Jesus will reveal through his life, his cross, and his resurrection. In Christ, transformation does not stop with him. God’s light continues to change hearts, renew lives, and shape us into people of grace.

As we conclude the Epiphany season, we are reminded that God’s revealing work is ongoing. The light that shines on the mountain shines into our lives as well, calling us to listen, to trust, and to follow.

Sunday, February 8, 2026 – The Fifth Sunday After Epiphany

Theme for the Day: A New Choice Is Only the Beginning
Epiphany Season Theme: Celebrating Only the Beginning in the Light and Grace of Jesus Christ
Readings: 2 Kings 5:1–14; 1 Corinthians 9:24–27; Mark 1:40–45

On this Fifth Sunday after Epiphany, we hear a powerful story of healing, mercy, and choice. In Mark 1:40–45, a man comes to Jesus in trust and vulnerability, saying, “If you choose, you can make me clean.” Jesus’ response is immediate and compassionate. He chooses to heal. He chooses to restore. He chooses to draw near.

This gospel reminds us that faith is not only about what we hope for, but about trusting the One who comes with grace and power. Jesus does not hesitate. He chooses mercy. He chooses life. He chooses you.

As we continue our Epiphany journey, we are invited to reflect on the new choices God places before us and the new beginnings made possible through Christ’s love and healing grace.

Sunday, February 1, 2026 – The Fourth Sunday After Epiphany

Theme for the Day: A New Kingdom Is Only the Beginning
Epiphany Season Theme: Celebrating Only the Beginning in the Light and Grace of Jesus Christ
Readings: Matthew 5:1–12

This Sunday, we hear the familiar and powerful words of the Beatitudes as Jesus reveals a new way of life in God’s kingdom. In Matthew 5:1–12, Jesus speaks blessings that turn expectations upside down, making known God’s kingdom shaped not by power or success, but by humility, mercy, justice, and grace.

Through these words, Jesus invites us to see the world and our lives differently. The Beatitudes proclaim that God’s kingdom is already breaking into our lives, offering hope, blessing, and purpose even in places of struggle or longing. This vision of God’s kingdom is not an ending, but only the beginning of how God is at work among us.

As we continue the Epiphany season, we are reminded that Christ’s light keeps revealing new beginnings, calling us to live into God’s kingdom with trust and hope.

Please note: This is a text switch. While this Sunday is the Fourth Sunday After Epiphany, we will be hearing the appointed Beatitudes text for this service.

Theme for the Day: A New Leader Is Only the Beginning
Epiphany Season Theme: Celebrating Only the Beginning in the Light and Grace of Jesus Christ
Readings: Matthew 4:12–23

As we continue through the Epiphany season, we reflect on how Christ is revealed as the One who leads in a new and life-giving way. In Matthew 4:12–23, Jesus calls ordinary people to do an extraordinary thing: to leave what is familiar, drop their nets, and follow him.

This calling is not about having all the answers or knowing the full path ahead. It is about trusting the One who leads. When Jesus calls the disciples, he does not simply give them instructions. He invites them into a new relationship, a new purpose, and a new beginning shaped by grace.

As we worship this Sunday, we are reminded that Christ continues to call us as well. Wherever we are in our faith journey, Jesus leads us forward, opening new paths and revealing that following him is only the beginning of what God is doing in our lives.

Theme for the Day: A New Finding Is Only the Beginning
Epiphany Season Theme:
Celebrating Only the Beginning in the Light and Grace of Jesus Christ
Readings:
John 1:29–42

In this Second Sunday of Epiphany, we continue to explore how God reveals Christ to the world and to our lives, again and again. In John 1:29–42, Jesus finds the disciples before they ever fully understand who he is. He calls them by name and invites them with simple, powerful words: “Come and see.”

This story reminds us that faith often begins not with having everything figured out, but with being found by Christ and stepping forward in trust. Each discovery leads to another, each encounter opens the door to more light, more grace, and more calling. In Epiphany, every new finding is only the beginning of what God is making known.

As we worship, we are invited to listen for Christ’s call in our own lives and to trust that what God reveals today leads to even more tomorrow.

Season Theme: Celebrating Only the Beginning in the Light and Grace of Jesus Christ

Readings: Isaiah 42:1-9; Acts 10:34-43; Matthew 3:13-17

As the Christmas season gives way to Epiphany, we gather to celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord and the powerful truth that God’s work in Christ is only the beginning. In the waters of the Jordan, Jesus is revealed as God’s beloved Son, and the light of God’s grace shines openly for all to see.

At Jesus’ baptism, the heavens are opened, the Spirit descends, and God’s voice speaks love, purpose, and calling. This moment marks the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry, and it reminds us that baptism is not an ending or a requirement completed, but the beginning of a life shaped by grace, forgiveness, and hope.

As we begin the Epiphany season, we trust that God is still revealing Christ to the world and to our lives. The light that shone at Jesus’ baptism continues to shine for us, guiding us, renewing us, and calling us forward into lives of faith and service.

Sunday, January 4, 2026 – The Second Sunday After Christmas

Theme for the Day: Comfort And Joy, Alive And Among Us
Season Theme: Tidings of Comfort and Joy, In the Grace of Jesus Christ

Readings: John 1:1-18

Christmas Day may have passed, trees may be coming down, and decorations may already be packed away, but the promise of Christmas is far from over. Even as our homes return to their usual rhythm, the Gospel of John reminds us of a gift that cannot be boxed up, broken, misplaced, or stored until next season.

“The Word became flesh and lived among us.”

This is the lasting truth of Christmas. Tidings of comfort and joy have not faded. They are alive, present, and dwelling with us now. Emmanuel, God with us, continues to shine light in our darkness, continues to speak grace into our days, continues to give hope that does not waver.

As we step into a new year, we are blessed to celebrate the One who is Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His gifts do not expire or wear out. His presence does not retreat. Christ remains with us, full of grace upon grace.

Theme for the Day: Still Searching For Comfort And Joy
Christmas Season Theme: Tidings of Comfort and Joy, In the Grace of Jesus Christ

Readings: Matthew 2:13-23

As the twelve days of Christmas continue, we gather on this First Sunday After Christmas still wrapped in the promise of Emmanuel, God with us. This week brings the familiar question: How was your Christmas? We think about hosting, traveling, meals, family gatherings, and gifts. We wonder if we received what we were hoping for or if we are still searching for something more.

Matthew’s gospel reminds us that God’s presence does not end on Christmas Day. Even as the holy family journeys onward, God’s protection and purpose continue to unfold. In the same way, as a new year approaches, God draws near with comfort for our weariness and joy for our longing.

If you find yourself still searching for more Christmas this year, trust that you will find it in Jesus Christ. In every transition, in every hope, in every beginning, Emmanuel meets you with all the comfort and joy your heart is seeking.

Theme for the Day: Christ Is Comfort And Joy
Christmas Season Theme: Tidings of Comfort and Joy, In the Grace of Jesus Christ

Readings: Luke 2:1-20

On this holy night, we gather at the manger once more, drawn by the same hopes and longing that filled the hearts of shepherds long ago. Christmas Eve invites us to pause and ask: Why are we here tonight? What are we looking for? What are we hoping for this Christmas?

We often hear that this night is especially for children. Indeed it is, for it is a night for the children of God, for the child of God living in each one of us. God delights in watching his children filled with anticipation and wonder, even when our own hearts are weary or uncertain.

Just as the shepherds were keeping watch in the midst of demands and unknowns, we arrive with our own burdens and questions. Yet the angels still sing, the good news still breaks forth, and the Christ Child still comes with grace that exceeds every expectation. Tonight we go with haste, trusting that God gives more than we imagined, filling us with the finest tidings of comfort and joy.

Advent Theme: Tidings of Comfort and Joy, In the Grace of Jesus Christ
Theme for the Day: Giving Comfort and Joy

Readings: Matthew 1:18-25

On this Fourth Sunday in Advent, we light the Star and Angel Candle, recalling the messengers and signs God sent long ago to Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and the wise men. Their message was clear: comfort and joy were coming into the world, and God’s promise was being fulfilled.

As Christmas approaches quickly, many of us feel the familiar gap between what we hoped to prepare and what is actually ready. Yet the heart of Advent reminds us that God closes every gap with grace. Where our preparations fall short, God meets us with comfort. Where our expectations falter, God surprises us with joy.

Matthew’s gospel proclaims the birth of Jesus as Emmanuel, God with us. Trust that the same God who guided angels and stars continues to guide you now. God has more than enough time, more than enough grace, to point you toward the comfort and joy found in Christ.

Advent Theme: Tidings of Comfort and Joy, In the Grace of Jesus Christ
Theme for the Day: Announce New Tidings

Readings: Matthew 11:2-11
Special Worship Feature: Children’s Christmas Program

On this Third Sunday in Advent, we light the Shepherd’s Candle, symbolizing joy and the Good News first shared with those keeping watch in the fields. The shepherds listened, believed, and hurried to see the promise fulfilled. Advent invites us to do the same.

Every day brings news from countless sources. We all choose what voices to trust and what messages we follow. Yet for our faith, for our hope, for our preparation this Advent, there is one voice above all others: the voice announcing the coming of the Lord. As Jesus reassures John’s disciples in today’s gospel, new tidings of comfort and joy are already breaking forth, reliable and true, for all who listen.

Today we also celebrate our Children’s Christmas Program, giving thanks for the joy, faith, and voices of our young people as they help announce these tidings in a special way.

Each of us prepares in different ways, but John the Baptist calls to us with clarity: “Prepare the way of the Lord. Get ready.”

As we move deeper into our Advent journey, we trust that God is making us ready for tidings of comfort and joy. Just as God prepared a stable, a manger, and a moment that changed the world, God prepares our hearts to receive the Good News again.

Sunday, December 1, 2024 – The First Sunday in Advent – The Prophecy Candle

Advent Theme Begins: “Tidings of Comfort & Joy, In the Grace of Jesus Christ!”
Theme for the Day: “Tidings Are Coming!”

Readings: Matthew 24:3 and appointed Advent scriptures

Advent begins as we light the Prophecy Candle, reminding us that God’s promises are sure. In Matthew 24:3, the disciples ask Jesus about what is to come, and we are invited into the same hope-filled expectation: Watch. Wait. Tidings are coming.

God keeps every promise, fulfilled in Christ’s birth, revealed in His life, death, and resurrection, and assured in His promise to come again.

As we enter this season of hope, we turn our hearts toward the One who brings true comfort and joy. Advent calls us to trust anew that God’s Word is steadfast and that Christ, our promised Savior, is near.

Join us as we begin our Advent journey with the theme, “Tidings of Comfort & Joy, In the Grace of Jesus Christ,” preparing to celebrate the birth of Christ while living in joyful expectation of His return.
