Theme for the Day: Signs Of Love … Set Apart!
Season Theme: Celebrating And Sharing Signs Of Love In The Grace Of Jesus Christ!
Readings: Matthew 5:1-12
What does it mean to be a saint?
On All Saints’ Sunday, we remember the saints who have gone before us, give thanks for the faithful people God has placed in our lives, and celebrate a remarkable promise: through God's grace, we too are numbered among the saints.
In this week's Gospel, Jesus shares the Beatitudes. Blessed are the poor in spirit. Blessed are those who mourn. Blessed are the meek, the merciful, the peacemakers, and those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Jesus describes a people whose lives may look very different from what the world typically celebrates. They are blessed, set apart, and called to become signs of God's love.
Being a saint does not mean being perfect. We are saints because God has claimed us, saved us, and set us apart by grace. Through Jesus Christ, we are blessed so that we might be a blessing, sharing mercy, peace, compassion, hope, and love with a world that desperately needs them.
As we remember those who have died and now rest in God's eternal promise, we also give thanks for the saints still among us. In ordinary lives and everyday acts of faithfulness, God's love continues to be made visible. Together, we are part of a communion of saints spanning generations, joined together by the grace of Jesus Christ.
