Theme for the Day: Thanks Be To God, For Every Sign Of Love In Our King!
Season Theme: Celebrating And Sharing Signs Of Love In The Grace Of Jesus Christ!
Readings: Matthew 25:31-46
What does the kingdom of Christ look like?
On Christ The King Sunday, we celebrate Jesus as Lord of all. Yet in this week's Gospel, Jesus reveals His kingdom in a surprising way. Our King is found among the hungry and thirsty, the stranger and the sick, those in need and those easily overlooked. Jesus tells His followers, “Just as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me.”
Christ our King has first given everything for us. He has welcomed us, forgiven us, fed us with grace, cared for us in our need, and claimed us as God's beloved children. Our service to others begins with thanksgiving for everything Jesus has already done for us.
Then Christ sends us to see Him in one another.
Every meal shared with someone who is hungry, every welcome offered to a stranger, every act of compassion, every visit, every moment of care, and every effort to serve one of God's children can become a sign of love. In serving our neighbor, Jesus tells us that we are serving Him.
As we give thanks for the countless signs of love we have celebrated throughout this season, Christ The King Sunday brings us back to the One from whom they all come. Jesus is our perfect sign of love, our gracious King, and the One who calls us to carry His goodness and grace into the world.
