Theme for the Day: Thanks Be To God For Every Sign Of Love … Even When Risky!
Season Theme: Celebrating And Sharing Signs Of Love In The Grace Of Jesus Christ!
Readings: Matthew 25:14-30
Sometimes gratitude requires a little courage.
In this week's Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of a master who entrusts his servants with talents before leaving on a journey. Two take what they have been given, put it to work, and watch it grow. Another, afraid of what might happen, buries what has been entrusted to him.
Jesus reminds us that God's blessings are not given simply to be protected or tucked safely away. They are entrusted to us to be used, shared, nurtured, and multiplied. God gives us gifts of grace and invites us to take the faithful risk of putting them to work.
That can feel risky. Sharing our gifts requires trust. Serving our neighbors can take us beyond what is comfortable. Generosity asks us to loosen our grip on what we have. Loving others can make us vulnerable. Yet faith reminds us that everything begins with God's generosity toward us.
As we give thanks for every sign of God's love, we recognize the countless blessings God has placed into our care. Our time, abilities, resources, relationships, and opportunities to serve can all become signs of love when we faithfully use them to build upon God's goodness and grace.
We do not have to bury what God has given us out of fear. Through Jesus Christ, we are free to live generously and courageously, trusting the One who first entrusted these gifts to us.
