Lenten Soup Supper & Devotional Service

Nourishment for Body and Soul

Join us this Lent for one last evening of fellowship, reflection, and grace-filled renewal as we gather under our 2026 Lenten theme: “Seven Words: Simple, Powerful, Renewing Words, In Grace Alone!”

Each Wednesday during Lent, we will begin with a Soup Supper at 6:30 p.m., sharing a simple meal and time together until 7:15 p.m. Following dinner, we will move into the Sanctuary for a brief devotional service from 7:15 to 7:30 p.m.

Our midweek services will include:

  • A dramatic reading centered on one of the Seven Words

  • A personal reflection shared by a member of our congregation

  • Prayer and communal worship as we journey toward the cross and the empty tomb

Midweek, Wednesday, March 25 – “A Thirst Quenched!” – 7 p.m.

Drama: Lazarus, Mary & Martha
Personal Reflection:

“I thirst.” From the cross, Jesus speaks words of deep human need. The One who offered living water now names his own longing. As we remember Lazarus, Mary, and Martha, we are reminded that Christ enters fully into our grief, our waiting, and our hope. In him, every thirst is seen, and in him, true life is given.

This evening will conclude our Lenten Soup Suppers and Devotional Services for the season. We give thanks for the fellowship, the meals shared, the stories told, and the grace received. As we look ahead to Holy Week, may these simple, powerful words continue to renew us in faith and hope.

If you would like to help provide soup, sides, or other items for our meals, sign-up sheets are available in the Narthex. You may also email Pastor Jamie at jamie.thompson@lordoflifemn.org if you would like to contribute.

All are welcome. Come be nourished in body and soul as we gather in grace, community, and renewal this Lenten season.

Personal Reflection:

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” In this word from the cross, Jesus gives voice to the deepest questions of the human heart. Why suffering? Why loss? Why silence? As we remember the blind man who longed to see, we are reminded that even in our questions, even in our searching, Christ is present. Grace meets us not only in answers, but in every why.

Drama: The Woman At The Well
Personal Reflection:

“Woman, behold your son. Behold your mother.” In this word from the cross, Jesus creates new community in the midst of grief. As we also remember the woman at the well, we see how Christ beholds us fully, not with judgment, but with living water and lasting love. What might we see anew when we allow ourselves to be truly beheld by him?

Midweek, Wednesday, March 4 – “…With Me In Paradise!” – 7 p.m.

Drama: Criminals On The Cross
Personal Reflection:

In this second word from the cross, Jesus speaks hope into a moment of deep despair. To a condemned criminal with nothing left to offer, Christ gives a promise that cannot be taken away: “Today you will be with me in paradise.” Grace is not earned. It is given. Even at the very end, even when all seems lost, Jesus draws near.
