“It Is Finished! It Has Now Begun!”
All Glory, Laud, and Honor
St. Theodulphus, Neale, Teschner
All glory laud and honor
To you Redeemer King
To whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring
You are the King of Israel
And David's royal Son
Now in the Lord's name coming
Our King and Blessed One
“When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, just say this, ‘The Lord needs them.’ And he will send them immediately.”
"If anyone says anything to you, just say this, 'The Lord needs them.'"
What could The Lord possibly need? Could The Lord possibly need a donkey, the "Hosannas," the palms, the foot washing, the Communion, the garden, the betrayal, the kiss, the arrest, the denials, the trial, the shouts, the crown, the whipping, the nails, the crowd, the seven last words, the last breath, the tomb?
The Lord needs it all, to finish what God has promised to accomplish, to give, to provide, to claim you, to save you! In all Jesus completes in proclaiming, "It is finished," trust even more is now begun!
The Lord needs one more thing to bring Him glory, laud and honor; The Lord needs one more thing to finish it all, to grant and to grace a new beginning...The Lord needs you!
Could The Lord really need you?
The Lord needs you; needs you this week; needs you in the world and in the Kingdom right now, so that others know they are not alone, so they know God and His love and power and His Kingdom are here right now, and that they are loved and being cared for ... the Lord needs you! If Jesus, who has available everything the Son of Man could ever need, needed a donkey that first Palm Sunday; trust anew, even more so, Jesus needs you now, and is here with you now, too!
Please do not think this week, please do not think salvation, please do not think grace, please do not think the crucifixion and the resurrection are for everyone except you, as if The Lord needs everyone but you!
May you believe and receive everything you need this week. May The Lord have everything He needs this week as well, may The Lord have you!
Let us pray: Lord, I often wonder what I have to offer. Am I needed? Am I needed by you? Thank you for your grace. As you announce, "It is finished," let me also have revealed to me anew, all that has now begun. I give you all glory, laud and honor for giving me all I need. I need this week. I need your mercy, your unconditional love, the cross, the tomb, to be saved. I need you. In your name, I pray to the One I need. Amen.
