What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Converse
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Ev'rything to God in prayer
Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Ev'rything to God in prayer
“Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, “See how he loved him.””
What do you thirst for in your friendships? What does it mean to you to be a good friend? We all have people who we love, who we care deeply about, who matter greatly to us.
We long to emotionally and to socially interact, to be together, to be with our friends, to be with those we share our faith with, to be with those we love and care about. Time apart takes its toll on us in a variety of ways, leaving us feeling empty, leaving us thirsting to know we are still connected, that we still matter.
My treasured and blessed friends, hold fast, be lifted up in, trust anew, these simple, powerful, renewing words: You matter! You are cared about, and cared for! You are loved! Do not question your value to others, to your loved ones, to the very Kingdom of God. Allow yourself to matter! Trust anew: Others, and the Faithful One, care about you! Believe anew: Others, and the Faithful One, forever believe in you!
Know, see, feel, experience, engage, receive, be filled to overflowing, believe, how He loves you! Know He thirsts for you! Trust anew that old familiar song, that we long to sing again soon in worship, "Jesus Loves Me This I Know"! Believe anew, when you are hurting, your Friend weeps for you! Do not ever question again, right here, in the here and now, the forever faithful Friend you have in Jesus!
Like any good friend, know you can talk to The Best Friend anytime about anything! Believe and trust, when you thirst to tell Him something, you can simply take everything to the Lord in prayer!
Let us pray: Lord, I often do not let others know they matter to me; I often do not let you know that I love you; I often do not trust that I matter to you, that you love me, that you thirst for me, that you weep for me, that I have the greatest and best friend in you. Allow me to allow you in. Allow me to allow others in. Allow me to let others know, they matter to me. I thirst to bring everything to you in prayer. Amen.
