Litany Trusting God’s Faithfulness In Each Breath
PSALM 25
Today we celebrate and trust anew the One who is Lord of all, Jesus, Messiah, blesses us to take a deep breath in grace, to talk, and to take everything to The Lord in prayer, so we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. I will bless you, my God and King, I will bless your name forever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised. Every generation shall declare your mighty acts.
Friends, our God is majestic. His works are filled with wonder and splendor. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to trust a little communication, our prayers, go a long way when it comes to the grace and mercy of our loving God.
(silence for reflection)
Friends in Christ: Today we call on the righteousness of our Savior. Jesus has heard your prayerful confession. Take a breath in the grace in these words: Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you of all your sins. Let us forever trust, ‘The Lord listens to His children praying.’

Listen to your children praying

Send your Spirit in this place

Listen to your children praying
Send us love
Send us pow’r
Send us grace
The Lord upholds all who are falling; he raises up all who are bowed down. As we take a new breath in grace, restoring hope, we trust anew The Lord hears us praying, helping one and all.
Friends in faith: The Lord comes near all who call on him, satisfying every desire and need, hearing every cry, saving each one of us. Trust anew, sing praises, to The One who sends us love, power and grace!

Loving God, we trust you hear us praying, every time we call, so we come to you in prayer and faith. As we long to open our souls to you, let us talk with you, and trust a little communication, our prayers, go a long way. Today, as you open our hearts to pray, open our spirits to listen to you as well. By your Holy Spirit, in every breath, we will discover anew our call, and your grace, will be revealed and made known. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
New Testament Lesson
COLOSSIANS 2:6–15
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have come to fullness in him, who is the head of every ruler and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a spiritual circumcision, by putting off the body of the flesh in the circumcision of Christ; when you were buried with him in baptism, you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead. And when you were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, when he forgave us all our trespasses, erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it.

What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Scriven & Converse
vs. 1
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer
Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer
vs. 2
Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our ev’ry weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer
vs. 3
Are we weak and heavy-laden
Cumbered with a load of care
Precious Savior still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do your friends despise forsake you
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In his arms he’ll take and shield you
You will find a solace there
Gospel
LUKE 11:1–13
Jesus was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us. And do not bring us to the time of trial.’” And Jesus said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; for a friend of mine has arrived, and I have nothing to set before him.’ And he answers from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, at least because of his persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs. So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone who among you who, if your child asks for a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish? Or if the child asks for an egg, will give a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
(New Revised Standard Version)
BASED ON PSALM 89
As we hear God’s Word, let us take a deep, fresh breath, and boldly speak of all we believe, trusting God’s power and grace in Jesus Christ.
I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the sky can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, great and awesome above all that are around him? O Lord, God of hosts, who is as mighty as you? Blessed be the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.
Children are invited to join volunteers for Rainbow Time during today’s Sermon! Join us for a time of storytelling, coloring, and time with friends! Children will return to their families after the Sermon.
Take A Breath; Let’s Talk
COLOSSIANS 2:6-15; LUKE 11:1-13
Do you have times when a little just does not feel like enough? Do you have times when a little goes a long way? A little communication can go a long way. When it comes to our spiritual walk and our spiritual talk, this is most certainly true. A little communication with others about The Christ, goes a long way to building relationships in Christ. A little communication with God goes a long way in building our relationship with our God; as we Praise him, as we Repent before him, as we Ask him for help and guidance, and as we Yield and surrender to him; as we PRAY. Take a breath in God’s grace today, and trust again the gift of prayer from our God is before us. As we share a little time talking with our Savior, we will see just how far a little communication will go, we will see while a little is enough, we are blessed to want so much more!
1. As we talk, we will see a little communication goes a long way, even when we wonder if anyone is even listening!
Colossians 2:8; Luke 11:11-13
A. Do you ever find yourself talking to someone, and the person you are trying to talk to, seems to be listening to someone else?
i. Sometimes we choose not to pray, because we have a hard time believing anyone is listening.
ii. God does not ignore us. God listens when we do not think so, when no one else does, before we speak.
B. God must feel like we are tuned into many other conversations, like no one is listening to him most of the time.
C. Let’s talk and really focus on who we are talking to, as we trust Jesus is listening, as we listen to The One who is talking to us.
2. Let’s talk and see a little communication goes a long way to build trust.
Colossians 2:6-7,12; Luke 11:5-10
A. When our faith is persistent, our drive, our desire, our passion and our practice will truly comfort us and invite us and guide us to go to God, to pray, to praise, to repent, to ask, to yield and to surrender, again and again, like the persistent neighbor.
B. God does not demand persistence, but he is glorified in it!
C. God is the most persistent of all. How many times has God had to speak to get your attention? To get you to listen? To get you to trust? Have you gotten tired of people not listening to you? Have you given up on them? Have you thought, what if God gets tired of me not listening, will he tire of calling me, will he give up on me? .....................Not a chance!
3. Let’s talk, and see a little communication goes a long way as Jesus teaches us the best way to talk.
Colossians 2:13-15; Luke 11:1-4
A. In The Lord’s Prayer: Jesus gives us a prayer to get us started.
B. The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer about it all: honor, reign, daily provision, sin, forgiveness, fear, uncertainty, strength, glory.
C. The Lord’s Prayer teaches us how to pray, giving us words to use as we trust the best talk goes a long way. This prayer is not just about words, but about our spirit receiving The Spirit.
4. Colossians 2:6; Luke 11:1 - Let’s talk, trusting a little communication goes a long way! Every time God speaks to us, God teaches us, and graces us, blessing us to hear something new. Listen; God is speaking! Speak, God is listening! See how far a little communication goes! Let our mouths and ears be opened, let our hearts and souls take a deep fresh breath in grace, for we will see, a little is not nearly enough!

Sharing our Needs and Joy with God in Prayer
… as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
The Spirit
Intercedes for us
With sighs too deep
For words to express
Oh oh oh
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.
We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
Song During Holy Communion
Down to the River to Pray
Allan have & Krauss
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who should wear the starry crown
Good Lord show me the way
O sisters let’s go down
Let’s go down come on down
O sisters let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who should wear the robe & crown
Good Lord show me the way
O brothers let’s go down
Let’s go down come on down
O brothers let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who should wear the starry crown
Good Lord show me the way
O fathers let’s go down
Let’s go down come on down
O fathers let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who should wear the robe & crown
Good Lord show me the way
O mothers let’s go down
Let’s go down come on down
O mothers let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who should wear the starry crown
Good Lord show me the way
O sinners let’s go down
Let’s go down come on down
O sinners let’s go down
Down in the river to pray
As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who should wear the robe & crown
Good Lord show me the way
The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.
Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you take each breath, each deep, fresh breath, in the living grace of Jesus Christ. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
