Litany Trusting God’s Faithfulness In Each Breath
PSALM 25
Today we trust anew, The One Sure Thing, The Better Part, The One whose name we truly and eternally celebrate, as priority #1; so we take a fresh breath in grace and we worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen. To you, O Lord, I lift my soul. I put my trust in you alone and follow you. Though I am a sinner, you will not let me be put to shame.
People of God: Those who wait upon the Lord will not be put to shame. They will be set free. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have failed to make Jesus the number one priority in our lives.
(silence for reflection)
Friends in Christ, today take a breath in the grace of these words: Jesus saves; Jesus forgives you all your sins. All who are thirsty, come to The One who comes to you first!
Song of Renewal
All Who Are Thirsty
Brown & Robertson
All who are thirsty
All who are weak
Come to the fountain
Dip your heart in the stream of life
Let the pain and the sorrow
Be wash’d away
In the waves of His mercy
As deep cries out to deep
We sing
Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come
I do love you, Lord. Lead me in your truth, teach me your paths; I will seek you always. You alone are the God of my salvation and for you I wait all the day long.
Friends of Jesus: The Lord does not remember our sins. According to his steadfast love he remembers you, and all his children everywhere. All who are thirsty, come to The One who thirsts for you, seek the Lord while he may be found!
Song of Renewal
All Who Are Thirsty
Brown & Robertson
All who are thirsty
All who are weak
Come to the fountain
Dip your heart in the stream of life
Let the pain and the sorrow
Be wash’d away
In the waves of His mercy
As deep cries out to deep
We sing
Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come
Almighty and loving God, help us today to make you and our neighbors first in our lives once again. By your Holy Spirit, help us take a breath, a new breath in grace, as you quench our thirst for you alone, as you renew our faith to see there is need for only one thing, to make you the number one priority in our lives. In Jesus’ perfect, powerful, and faithful name, we pray. Amen.
Song of Grace Anew
Children of The Heavenly Father
Sandell, Berg
vs. 1
Children of the heav’nly Father
Safely in his bosom gather
Nestling bird or star in heaven
Such a refuge ne’er was given
vs. 2
God his own doth tend and nourish
In his holy courts they flourish
From all evil things he spares them
In his mighty arms he bears them
vs. 3
Neither life nor death shall ever
From the Lord his children sever
Unto them his grace he showeth
And their sorrows all he knoweth
vs. 4
Though he giveth or he taketh
God his children ne’er forsaketh
His the loving purpose solely
To preserve them pure and holy
Gospel
LUKE 10:38–42
Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”
(New Revised Standard Version)
BASED ON PSALM 89
As we hear God’s Word, let us take a deep, fresh breath, and boldly speak of all we believe, trusting God’s power and grace in Jesus Christ.
I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the sky can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, great and awesome above all that are around him? O Lord, God of hosts, who is as mighty as you? Blessed be the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.
Children are invited to join volunteers for Rainbow Time during today’s Sermon! Join us for a time of storytelling, coloring, and time with friends! Children will return to their families after the Sermon.
Take A Breath … Priority #1
GENESIS 18:1-10A; COLOSSIANS 1:15-28; LUKE 10:38-42
We hear them all the time. I use them quite readily. Maybe you do to? No one wants to assume anything or to offend anyone or to paint ourselves into a corner. I know I don't. Maybe you don't want to either. Qualifiers. We make a bold statement, and then we make sure everyone understands, `it's not a sure thing.' We say things like, `Absolutely, but it depends.' When it comes to choosing and discussing our priorities, the use of qualifiers often increases. `This is most important, unless of course you are counting that.' `Nothing is more important than this, unless that opportunity becomes available.' `This is it! Nothing else matters! For now.' Jesus today reminds us what matters the most. Jesus tells us, "There is need for only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part..." "One" thing; "the" better part. There are no qualifiers used here. Trust Jesus tells us loud and clear today, as he always does, what really matters. Take a deep breath in the unqualified grace of this truth: Jesus has already made you his number one priority!
1. What are your priorities? What is most important to you?
A. Can you think of your “top 5” list? Can you put them in order?
B. This is a tough question - to put things in order of importance.
C. Mary made Jesus her number one priority.
Luke 10:42
D. Take a deep breath in grace, trust anew, God has put you at the top of His list.
2. Why are these your priorities? What is your criteria for making something a priority?
A. This can be a tougher question.
B. Martha liked doing, to honor, to glorify, to praise; serving was her priority, perhaps - even if it meant not sitting, not taking in, not breathing in The One Sure Thing, The Better Part, in her presence.
C. Mary made Jesus important. She was interested in him and loved him. Her interests and her passions were her criteria.
D. God's criteria is simple - God makes important what God has an interest, a love and a passion for - you!
Genesis 18:3
3. How do Jesus, God's Word, God's Gift of Baptism, God's Call to Discipleship, The Gift of Faith, The Concept of Sin and The Freedom of Forgiveness, The Promises of Life, Transformation, Salvation, and Life Everlasting fit into your priorities?
Colossians 1:17, 28
4. Jesus is The Messenger, The Message: God and God's way are #1! As we trust this, surrender to it, we see what is already so:
A. “We love because God first loved us.” We make God first, because God makes us first. God says you are his #1 priority, in the cross and in his love for you, you have been made #1.
B. Take a deep breath in the unqualified grace of this truth: Jesus has made you his number one priority!

Song Anew in Hope & Grace
Precious Lord, Take My Hand
Dorsey

Precious Lord take my hand
Lead me on let me stand

Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord

And the night draws near
And the day is past and gone

Sharing our Needs and Joy with God in Prayer
… as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
With each breath, breathe on us anew, your Spirit and your grace.
All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.
For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.
We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

My debt to pay
From the cross to the grave
From the grave to the sky
Lord I lift Your name on high

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you take each breath, each deep, fresh breath, in the living grace of Jesus Christ. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!
