Prepare the Royal Highway

Prepare the royal highway
The King of kings is near
Let every hill and valley
A level road appear
Then greet the King of glory
Foretold in sacred story
Hosanna to the Lord
For he fulfills God's Word
“This is the one of whom the prophet Isaiah spoke when he said, “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.’””
The first week of Advent is all about prophecy, and the promise that was prophesied long ago. The second week in Advent is about preparation, preparing for the promise to be kept again when Christ returns, preparing to celebrate that the promise was kept long ago in a manger in Bethlehem.
On this Second Sunday in Advent we light the second candle, The Bethlehem Candle, and we remember that as God prepared all things that first Christmas, God will again prepare us for the tidings of comfort and joy that come to us this year in the glory of Christmas, and God will prepare us and all things and the way of Lord to be filled with comfort and joy when Christ comes again.
In the midst of all we each have to do to get ready each day, to get ready for Christmas this year, to get ready for Christ, trust the Holy Spirit will ready you: for the voice crying out in the wilderness; for comfort and joy; to prepare the way of the Lord; "to greet the King of glory, for the Lord fulfills God's Word."
Let us pray: King of glory, I get caught up preparing for Christmas my own way, missing out on hearing your voice crying out to me from the wilderness to prepare the way of the Lord. Renew me in this week of preparation with comfort and joy, give me purpose to serve, to glorify you and to prepare the way for Christ to come again. Amen.
