Gathering In Spirit & Grace

Here I Am To Worship

Hughes

Light of the World
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes
Let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life
Spent with you

refrain:
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say
That You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Up on that cross
And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Up on that cross

(refrain)

Litany Celebrating the Rush of the Wind in Power & Grace

BASED ON PSALM 66

Today we trust anew, God’s healing presence is here, gracing us to feel the rush of The Wind, to go even farther than we first think, so here we are to worship, in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; sing glory to his name; give to him glorious praise. God, how awesome are your deeds! Help us to go healed and anew, to go where you send us, to worship only you, and to sing praises to your name.

People of God: Come, see, all God has done. Come and hear all God is sending us out to do. God is awesome, and has truly turned death into life. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins and those times we have not trusted we are sent to go farther than we think in the rush of The Wind.

(silence for reflection)

Friends in Christ: you have been restored! Feel the rush of The Wind, as God’s grace goes farther than we think: Jesus heals, Jesus saves, Jesus forgives you all your sins. Believe The Lord never looks away from us. Go anew, blessed to go farther than you think! Rejoice, sing, for God’s truth is marching on!

Song Renewed In Grace

Battle Hymn of The Republic

Howe

refrain:
Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
His truth is marching on

Bless our God, all people, everywhere. Let the sound of your praise be heard. Let us go as we are sent, two by two, farther than we think. God does not let our feet slip; we will not fall.

Friends in faith: God’s goodness has worked miracles; healing us, restoring us, saving us. Let us rejoice and sing: God’s goodness rushes in like The Wind and goes farther than we think! God’s truth is forever truly marching on!

Song Renewed In Grace

Battle Hymn of The Republic

Howe

refrain:
Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
His truth is marching on

We have come again to feel our God’s goodness and grace, with the rush of The Wind. We have cried to him and he has listened to us. Let us go into the world, let us go farther than we first think, let us go now and tell others all God has done.

Pastor: Friends anew in grace: Listen to God’s word, follow him always. Go in Christ’s name, for we are blessed and sent by the One who goes farther than we think! God’s truth and goodness and steadfast love, are forever marching on!

Song Renewed In Grace

Battle Hymn of The Republic

Howe

refrain:
Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
Glory glory Hallelujah
His truth is marching on

God of compassion and all goodness; today as we worship you, we trust anew, you are the One who forever goes farther than we think. You are the source of every miracle, your grace is at the center of healing and restoring all that is broken and uncertain in our lives. By your Holy Spirit, rush in like The Wind, keep us faithful, to go together where you send us, to go where you lead us, to go farther than we think, to make you known to one and all. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

The Old Testament

EZEKIEL 2:1–5

God said to me, Ezekiel: “O mortal, stand up on your feet, and I will speak with you.” And when he spoke to me, a spirit entered into me and set me on my feet; and I heard him speaking to me. He said to me, Mortal, I am sending you to the people of Israel, to a nation of rebels who have rebelled against me; they and their ancestors have transgressed against me to this very day. The descendants are impudent and stubborn. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, “Thus says the Lord God.” Whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house), they shall know that there has been a prophet among them.

(New Revised Standard Version)

The New Testament

2 CORINTHIANS 12:2–10

I know a person in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven – whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows. And I know that such a person – whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows – was caught up in the Paradise and heard things that are not to be told, that no mortal is permitted to repeat. On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my behalf I will not boast, except of my weakness. But if I wish to boast, I will not be a fool, for I will be speaking the truth. But I refrain from it, so that no one may think better of me than what is seen in me or heard from me, even considering the exceptional character of the revelations. Therefore, to keep me from being too elated, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would leave me, but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

(New Revised Standard Version)

Song Anew In Hope & Grace

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

Dorsey

vs. 1
Precious Lord take my hand
Lead me on let me stand
I am tired I am weak
I am worn
Through the storm through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

vs. 2
When my way grows drear
Precious Lord linger near
When my life is almost gone
Hear my cry hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

vs. 3
When the darkness appears
And the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

Take my hand precious Lord
Lead me home

Gospel

MARK 6:1–13

Jesus left that place and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. On the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. Then Jesus said to them, “Prophets are not without honor, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house.” And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. And he was amazed at their disbelief. Then Jesus went about among the villages teaching. He called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He ordered them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; but to wear sandals and not to put on two tunics. He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place. If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.” So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil, many who were sick and cured them.

(New Revised Standard Version)

Stating Our Faith in God

BASED ON PSALM 89

As we feel the rush of The Wind, let us speak boldly of all we believe, trusting God’s power and grace in Jesus Christ.

I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: ‘I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the sky can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, great and awesome above all that are around him? O Lord, God of hosts, who is as mighty as you? Blessed be the Lord forever. Amen and Amen.

With the Rush of the Wind … I Touch You First!

EZEKIEL 2:1-5; 2 CORINTHIANS 12:2-10; MARK 6:1-13

Have you ever started a task, a project, an assignment, an appointment, thinking you knew what was required of you, only to find out you had to do more?  Even simple things like baking in the kitchen, may require more ingredients and more clean up than you think.  Mowing the lawn is great; trimming the yard requires more.  Painting makes everything like new, only if you pay attention to each corner and every little detail.  Parenting, careers, financial security all can require more than you think at first.  Today as we are reminded Jesus clearly sends us out two by two; we are also reminded discipleship, apostleship, keeping the faith and sharing a faithful witness always require us to go farther than we may think.  Feel the rush of The Wind, trust and celebrate, God in Jesus Christ has gone farther than anyone of us would have imagined possible!

1. As followers of Jesus Christ, feel the rush of The Wind and believe, we will be sent to go farther than we think when it comes to apostleship and discipleship.
Ezekiel 2:4-5; Mark 6:1-4,7

A. Commitment, obedience, service, conviction, stewardship, proclamation, devotion, faithfulness, doing what God asks of us, and going where God sends us, will require us often to go farther than we think.  The rush of The Wind will give us courage to go outside of our comfort zone.

B. We are sent “two by two,” and `we have been given authority.’

i. Items, information and people are sent every day for the sake of getting things done; to inform, to announce, to advocate, to proclaim, to teach, to invite, to console.

ii. Items, information and people are sent by express, first class, special delivery, insured, and certification.

iii. We are sent every day with the rush of The Wind to go farther than we think in the power and grace of Jesus.

a. To pray, to serve, to anoint, to worship, to glorify, to teach, to honor, to offer hope.

b. Two by two, never alone, with authority, fully certified, with Jesus, for Jesus, in Jesus’ name.

2. As followers of Jesus Christ, feel the rush of The Wind and believe, we will be called to go farther than we think when it comes to our journey in faith and making God and our neighbors first.
Ezekiel 2:1-5; 2 Corinthians 12:7-9; Mark 6:5-7

A. Even when others do not respect us or accept us, we will be able to go farther than we think, with the grace of Christ.

B. Even when we think we can go no farther, with the rush of The Wind, we can surrender and trust, rather than fight to control or try to do it all on our own.

3. With the rush of The Wind, God in the power and grace of Jesus Christ, goes so much farther than we think!
Ezekiel 2:1-3; 2 Corinthians 12:7-9; Mark 6:8, 12-13

A. God goes farther than we think as we realize God needs us, even though we are mere mortals.

B. God in Jesus goes farther than we think to encourage us and to lead us in apostleship, discipleship and faith.

C. God did not rest until he went as far he needed to, to save us! When it comes to forgiveness, freedom, mission, blessing and salvation, like the rush of The Wind, God goes farther than we think!

Song of Hope & Life Anew

I Will Follow

Tomlin

Where You go I’ll go
Where You stay I’ll stay
When You move I’ll move
I will follow

All Your ways are good
All Your ways are sure
I will trust in You alone
Higher than my sight
High above my life
I will trust in You alone

refrain:
Where You go I’ll go
Where You stay I’ll stay
When You move I’ll move
I will follow You
Whom You love I’ll love
How You serve I’ll serve
If this life I lose
I will follow You
Yeah
I will follow You
Yeah

Light unto the world
Light unto my life
I will live for You alone
You’re the One I seek
Knowing I will find
All I need in You alone
In You alone

(refrain)

bridge:
In You there’s life everlasting
In You there’s freedom for my soul
In You there’s joy unending joy
And I will follow

(refrain)

I will follow You
Yeah
I will follow You
Yeah

… as we pray to you, Jesus, ...
Let us feel the rush of your presence and your grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

Songs During Holy Communion

America The Beautiful

Spafford & Bliss

vs. 1
O beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain
America
America
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good
With brotherhood
From sea to shining sea

vs. 2
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness
America
America
God mend thy every flaw
Confirm thy soul
In self-control
Thy liberty in law

vs. 3
O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life
America
America
May God thy gold refine
‘Til all success
Be nobleness
And every gain divine

vs. 4
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears
America
America
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good
With brotherhood
From sea to shining sea

The body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, strengthen you and keep you in his grace, this day, and on into life everlasting.
Amen.

Let us pray.
Pour out upon us the spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of those whom you have fed with one heavenly food; through Jesus Christ, The Lord of life. Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace, as you feel the rush of The Wind in God’s saving grace. In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Let us go in the peace of Christ, celebrating the love of God, and serving the Lord of life.
Thanks be to God!

God bless America
Land that I love
Stand beside her
And guide her
