Litany Alive & Anew, Filled with Grace in The Risen Christ

based on Psalm 27

Today we celebrate Jesus, Messiah, is alive, and we are alive and anew, filled with hope and living grace, so we worship in the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.

Amen. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is my stronghold; I am not afraid! All I ask is to live in the house of the Lord forever.

Friends, Christ is risen, and risen indeed, for he is gracious and merciful. Let us take a moment of silence to confess our sins, and those times we have failed to trust we are alive and anew, filled with God’s living grace.

(silence for reflection)

Friends of The Risen Savior: When you call on The Lord, he hears you and answers you, filling you and raising you up to be alive and anew in the living grace of these words: Jesus, saves; Jesus, forgives you all your sins. The Risen Christ calls you and invites you by name, to come, let us eat, for now the feast is spread!

Song Feasting on Trust

Come, Let Us Eat

Kwillia & Miller

vs. 1
Come let us eat
For now the feast is spread
Come let us eat
For now the feast is spread
Our Lord’s body
Let us take together
Our Lord’s body
Let us take together

Thanks be to God, God has not sent us away in anger or cast us off or forsaken us. Let us be filled and raised up, to believe and to be alive and anew in grace, for Jesus is the light of the world!

Friends in faith: Feast on power and grace. The Lord is calling us to his table as one people. Jesus fills our hearts with courage and hope. Come, let us drink! The Risen Christ is here; the wine is poured!

Song Feasting on Trust

Come, Let Us Eat

Kwillia & Miller

vs. 2
Come let us drink
For now the wine is poured
Come let us drink
For now the wine is poured
Jesus’ blood poured
Let us drink together
Jesus’ blood poured
Let us drink together

We love the Lord for saving us. We join together at his table and celebrate, for we are filled to be alive and anew in grace! Come, let us eat; give praise to the Lord alive in our midst!

Friends who feast on The Risen Christ: Come; let us make God and our neighbors first in our lives. Come; let us see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Come; let us eat and live in the house of the Lord forever!

Song Feasting on Trust

Come, Let Us Eat

Kwillia & Miller

vs. 3
In his presence
Now we meet and rest
In his presence
Now we meet and rest
In the presence
Of our Lord we gather
In the presence
Of our Lord we gather

Loving, living God, as the joy of Easter continues, we praise you, for filling us with new life and salvation; for always being with us.  Come, Lord Jesus, be our guest; in your presence we gather. By your Spirit, we are alive and anew, to see you walking with us, eating with us, breaking into our midst, filling us with hope and living grace. In The Risen Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Faith Quest meets following the Children’s Sermon

The Lesson

1 John 3:1-7

See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are.  The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.  And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.  Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.  You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.  No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him.  Little children, let no one deceive you.  Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

(New Revised Standard Version)

Song of Life Anew

Now All the Vault of Heaven Resounds

Strodach

vs. 1
Now all the vault
Of heav’n resounds
In praise of love
That still abounds
Christ has triumphed
He is living
Sing choirs of angels
Loud and clear
Repeat their song
Of glory here
Christ has triumphed
Christ has triumphed
Alleluia
Alleluia
Alleluia

Gospel

Luke 24:36b-48

While the disciples were talking, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."  They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost.  He said to them, "Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?  Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself.  Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." And when he had said this, Jesus showed them his hands and his feet. While in their joy they were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?"  They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate in their presence.  Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you - that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and psalms must be fulfilled."  Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.  You are witnesses of these things."

(New Revised Standard Version)

based on Revelation 21:5-7

God’s Son born in a manger, who went forward in obedience to make us all one through his death and resurrection; he will come again. While we wait for Jesus’ return, we boldly share our faith, for we are alive and anew in The Risen Christ, raising all to new life.

God who sits upon the throne says, “Behold, I make all things new. Write these words for they are trustworthy and true. It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain the water of life without payment. They who conquer shall have their heritage, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” Amen.

Alive & Anew, Filled With Living Peace

ACTS 3:12-19; 1 JOHN 3:1-7; LUKE 24:36B-48

Do you like dinner parties; meals with family and friends?  Do you find yourself eating fast food along the way?  Eating alone?  Our bodies need nourishment.  We do not always get to choose the meal or setting; and to a certain extent, `You are what you eat,' rings true.  Our favorite foods and how we eat can reveal a bit of who we are.  The Risen Jesus came and stood among his disciples.  They were terrified.  They were not sure what was going on or what they were seeing.  Was it Jesus or a ghost, or something else?  Jesus tried explaining, even showing who he was; it was in eating together that they believed.  As we celebrate The Fifty Days of Easter, let us give thanks to and feast on The One who has filled us, making us alive and anew, for Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed!  Alleluia!

1. In The Risen Christ, trust you are filled and raised to be alive and anew in living grace.  Jesus comes to be our guest, to be with us in every meal, in every day!

A. Eating can reveal a lot about a person.  Jesus eats with us to reveal himself to us.
1 John 3:2,5; Luke 24:48

B. Jesus eats with us to make us all one people.
Luke 24:36

C. Jesus comes to eat with us and to talk with us.
Luke 24:44-45

D. Jesus comes to eat with us to nourish us.
Acts 3:19, Luke 24:41

E. Jesus has faithfully been in our midst through the years, to be our guest, in our meals, and in our lives every day.
Luke 24:36

2. Wherever we go through the years, wherever you go next, when you get up tomorrow, sit down at your table at home, in a restaurant, at work, with family, with those you disagree with, with those you love, guess who will be there?  When you sit down at the banquet table one day, guess whose guest you will be?  You are filled to be alive and anew, for Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed!  Alleluia!

Song of Hope & Life Anew

All Who Are Thirsty

Brown/Roberts

All who are thirsty
All who are weak
Come to the fountain
Dip your heart in the stream of life
Let the pain and the sorrow
Be wash’d away
In the waves of His mercy
As deep cries out to deep
We sing

Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come
Come Lord Jesus come

(repeat entire song)

...as we pray to you, Jesus,
Risen Savior, raise us, to be alive and anew, in your living hope and grace.

All these things and whatever else you see we need, grant to us we pray, for into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord and Savior.
Amen.

Holy Communion will take place during our service. If you are not worshipping with us in person but would like to receive Communion, we will be offering Drive Through Communion at our building at 16200 Dodd Lane, Lakeville, Minnesota, following our indoor service. Drive Through Communion will be available between 10:15am & 10:30am.

For those worshiping with us in person, we receive communion through intinction; that is, you will receive the bread, the host, then dip into the glass of choice, either a red wine in the chalice closest to the host, or in a light colored non-alcoholic grape juice. All are welcome.

We also offer gluten free and pre-packaged options. Please take these options before arriving at the host to receive a blessing.

The Words of Institution with “We Come to the Hungry Feast”

Makeever

We come
To the hungry feast
Hungry for
A word of peace
To hungry hearts
Unsatisfied
The love of God
Is not denied
We come
We come
To the hungry feast

In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

We come
To the hungry feast
Hungry for
A world released
From hungry folk
Of every kind
The poor in body
Poor in mind
We come
We come
To the hungry feast

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

We come
To the hungry feast
Hungry that
The hunger cease
And knowing though
We eat our fill
The hunger will
Stay with us still
We come
We come
To the hungry feast

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
